SURROUNDINGS

WANG CHURCH

Little church from 19th Century was to small and was put on sale. This precious Viking architecture monument was bought for 427 marks by Prussian King Fredrik Wilhelm IV. Building was taken into pieces and in 1841 brought in cases to Karpacz. Official opening took place on 28th of July 1844 and since then guests that visit Karpacz can admire this architectonic miracle.

MINATURE PARK OF LOWER SILESIA MONUMENTS

GLASS MANUFACTURE

Glass Manufacture, Workshop – Art Glass Galery in Piechowice is one of a kind attraction in Karkonosze. In the atelier created as a 19th century glass manufactory they create original and unique pieces by usage of old techniques. They also engrave and crave in glass.

BOLKOW CASTLE

First notice about the castle comes from 1277 when Legnitz Prince Boleslaw II stated “...castro nostro…”. But the origin of this gothic castle is connected to Bolko I, Swidnica-Jawor Prince. During his reign the famous tower was built. This tower is the only example of this type in Poland. It’s prototype is to be found in France and Czech Republic.

Except from exhibitions in 16th century Women House, visitors can admire knights’ tournaments organized in the courtyards, listen to old music or watch theatre shows. Each year there’s also a Castle Party festival organized in here.

GERHARTA HAUPTMANN’S HOUSE

The museum is located in an villa where the German writer and Nobel prize winner (1912) used to live. It is situated in Jelenia Góra – Jagniątków. The house resembles a castle, it was built in 1900 – 1901 by the project of Berlin’s architect Hans Grisebach. This mansion was called “Wiesenstein”, it’s surrounded by the 1.6 ha park and has a view on the Karkonosze Mountains.

The museum is promoting multicultural character of the Lower Silesia and it works as a museum as well which means that it gathers, keeps and exhibits monuments connected to the work and life of the author. In the museum you can also find a library were you can find German and Silesian works as well as first editions of Hauptmann’s works, photos, biographies, etc.

PRINCE TOWER SIEDLĘCIN

Middle ages tower in Siedlęcin was built on the old trading track Prague – Wrocław. Henry I is thought to be the main builder of the tower, he is supposed to built it in 14th century. This tower is the biggest and best restored of the type building in this part of Europe. Inside you can find middle-ages living spaces as well as very precious walls on the second floor. The walls presents unique paintings which show Sir Lancelot’s adventures and the story of his love to Queen Ginnier, wife of King Arthur. These are the only paintings in Poland and in the whole Europe there are only few left. The tower is open for tourists during the whole year and in the summer there are additional exhibitions.

KOWARY ADITS / TUNNELS

We would like to invite you to visit underground tracks which is a great heritage of a mining tradition. Explore underground Treasury full of precious stones and materials. Get to know incredible history of the place with military mysteries of III Reich and see why the tunnels were so secretly and strongly secured by Russians in the post war period. Check what mysteries are hidden today and why so many men are drinking magical water from the tunnels’ source.

DINOPARK

In the beautiful Karkonosze forrest with 10 he of land among old tress you can try incredible one to one with dinosaurs. More than 40 reconstructions of prehistorical creatures build in original scale with high precision is waiting for your visit. There are also educational tracks where with thrill of excitement you can learn a lot about this creatures. In the park you can also find big playground for children, Dino-Bar which serves great meals and Dino-Market with lots of souvenirs. Children and adults are very welcome!

HERITAGE PARK OF POLISH ARMY

Heritage Park of Polish Army is the biggest exhibition of heavy weapons used after 1945 by Polish Army. Except the exhibition you can also see outside display of weapons from II World War and post war period.

In the building you can see the exhibition of Karkonosze Army, showing history of Jelenia Gora’s military station since 19th Century.

KOLOROWA – Recreation and Sport Centre

Attraction in Karpacz which offers :

KARKONOSZE MUSEUM

Karkonosze Museum in Jelenia Gora prolongs tradition from 19th century of a Karkonosze Company (Riesengebirgsverein). Regional exhibition with a special collection of an artistic glass which has more than 8000 objects beginning from 5th century B.C. There is a special exhibition of monuments from Silesian glass factories. Thanks to the museum guests can learn the history of the region.

DEVILISH MILL

Devilish Mill is one of the oldest mills in Lower Silesia. Visiting this place you can not only see how the flour is produced but also taste home baked bread. Big wheel powered by water and other parts of the devilish mill is a attraction not only for fans of the technic. While your visit you have to see dwelling space of old habitants with restored every day use objects.

CIRCUSLAND

Visitng Circusland you can not only expect artistic program but also a visit to the mini zoo, where you can see Bengal tiger, Australian kangaroo, python and a donkey. Children can enjoy horse or camel rides. You can also take part in circus workshops.

CHOJNIK CASTLE

First notice about the Chojnik Castle comes from 1292 and is connected to Swidnica-Jawor Princes. You can hear about the castle’s history, Kunegunda legend and see the life of a Knight Brotherhood that works here. Each year you can also enjoy Knight’s Tournament. While visiting you have to climb the tower where you can admire wonderful view on Karkonosze and Jelenia Gora.

WALLONISCH COTTAGE

Visit a cottage, place of middle ages masterd in mining and processing natural goods, metals, precious stones and quartz. Groups have an opportunity to become initiated to Wallonisch mastery.

FORREST FOUNDRY

Forrest Foundry is the only place in Karkonosze where you can see on live how the glass is processed. Colorful glass processed by usage of old techniques and equipment made by people. All this objects you can buy in a shop. Nearby you can see a monument of a Mountain Ghost and his devilish wife.

KARGUL AND PAWLAK MUSEUM

History of the museum is connected to the film director Sylwester Checinski, who in 1967 in Lubomierz found a scenery to shoot his comedy Sami Swoi, very famous polish comedy series.
